Art Nouveau was a style popular during the 20th century, it was described as "sudden violent curves generated by the crack of a whip" subsequently this style became referred to as "the whiplash"
This style remained particularly popular until world war I, and then had a lasting effect on the century, there was a determination to break from the old and create a new style which could be used in many different aspects of the design industry in everyday objects or interior design.
